A Toronto electrician won $50 million (and he’s giving part to a stranger)
A Torontonian (well, okay, he was born in Alberta but he lives here now) named Timothy Schell won the $50-million Lotto Max draw this week, and he has the kind of story that inspires cheesy lottery commercials. The 34-year-old construction worker was goaded into buying the jackpot ticket by a gas station attendant, who now has a cash bonus from Schell heading his way. Schell also plans to buy his girlfriend a hefty engagement ring, pick up some fancy cars and motorcycles and open his own garage. He seems pretty grounded, so we hope there won’t be one of those sad follow-up stories in the Toronto Star about how winning the lottery turned into a burden… er, we’re not jealous. Honest. [Toronto Star]
Congrats on winning the big one…was just wondering how much you’ll give to the attendent who pushed you to buy the ticket. Had i won i think a cool million would be awesome. had you just bought the ticket there i wouldn’t be as generous but since he twisted your arm….sounds right to me. tc…enjoy your life.
I really hate how these Lotto jackpot winners think they own the world and are in the same ranks as high society people who worked hard for their money!People like this make me sick!
Witchy… ? Did you read the article? There is no mention of the winner thinking he’s anything… it certainly doesn’t indicate he thinks “he owns the world”? Hillarious.
I happen to know Tim and he’s as grounded as they get. Didn’t you see the news witchy? He wore a Harley shirt and ripped jeans. He’s an electrician that makes good money and trust me he can afford whatever he wants. But the lotto will never change him. he may have to never worry abou cash again but doesn’t mean he’s gonna change as a person.
I knew this guy growing up. He came from a home with one hard-working Mama. It thrills me to death that he has won. He never has & doubt ever will become one of those “better than you” people! He deserves all the best that life has to offer. Whether a $50 or $50million win, this will not change the person he was or is … will only change the lives he will generously touch by just knowing! Congrats Tim!!
Another Toronto electrician is going to win a jackpot just before 2015
