Russell Oliver—a.k.a. the “Cashman”—really will give you cash (lots of it) for your gold
Today, the Toronto Star took a break from making us terrified of swimming pools to investigate the city’s notoriously competitive cash-for-gold industry. Armed with $1,500 in old gold, a Star reporter visited various cash-for-gold shops and, true to the cutthroat nature of the business, the offers fluctuated wildly—some were as low as $500, while others were as high as $1,600. One of the top offers came from none other than the “Cashman” himself, Russell Oliver, whose outlandish television commercials have long been the stuff of Toronto folklore. Apparently Oliver is willing to pay five to 10 per cent above the price of gold in order to a seal a deal and land a new customer. According to the Cashman: “People are coming in like crazy.” Who knew? Well, we did, for one. Read the entire story [Toronto Star] »
this guy would sell his soul for gold.
He’s a total scumbag.
This guy goes to Woodbine Slots every week. I see him walking in counting his 100 dollar bills every weekend at the same time. I guess he gambles his profits from his store.
Listen, if your interested in bypassing all the drama, go to Premier Cash For Gold. I dealt with them a few days ago and the guys there are straight up and honest. I ended up with 80% of the gold price for some old jewelry I had. A+ experience all the way! http://www.premiercashforgold.ca

I took a $1,200. diamond ring in to him a few weeks ago. I met him at the door and he pointed me to a young guy at the counter. The guy at the counter offered me $100. I said, buddy, I didn’t get it in a gum ball machine. After listening to him defend his price, I asked for the ring back. He DID NOT hand it back. I was furious, had to keep my cool and ask 4 times. Russell offered me $500. I only wanted my ring back at that point and waited for him to had it back. Once they eventually did, I was OUT of there. Friends tell me I should get a legitimate appraisal and post it on Ebay for a better offer.
